Creating food menus

Creating food menus

eylog lets you create menus for your nursery. These can alternate weekly, and different menus can be assigned for different groups/rooms or age groups. The What I Ate Today tab of the daily diary is automatically filled in according to the menu for that day.

Creating a menu

  1. Hover over your profile picture in the top right.
  2. Click on System Settings.
  3. Click on Food Menus.
  4. Click on Add Menu Group in the top left.
  5. Choose a Name for the menu group, as well as what time frame it will be active for (such as a year or a term). Note that the time frames of menus cannot overlap.
  6. Click Save and Continue, and you’ll be brought to a screen where you can make your first menu.
  7. Type in the Menu name.
  8. In the drop-down field for Applicable for, choose whether you want this menu to apply to All Children, specific Age Groups, or certain Groups/Rooms. If this menu is only for certain age groups or groups/rooms, there will be a button to the bottom right of the food menu that allows you to add an additional menu for other age groups or groups/rooms.
  9. Type your food items into the boxes in the table. You can change the names of mealtimes in System Settings > Daily Diary & Registers.
  10. Click Save when you’re done.
  11. You can add additional menus to the menu group by clicking on the  icon under the Weekly Menus column.
Info
Whatever option you choose for Applicable for will apply to all menus within this menu group.

Creating a menu sequence

You can use sequences to add some variety to the weekly food menus within a menu group.
  1. Hover over your profile picture in the top right.
  2. Click on System Settings.
  3. Click on Food Menus.
  4. Click on Set Sequence for the menu group you want.
  5. In the pop-up window, you will see a list of all weeks within the menu group’s time frame.
  6. Click on the drop-down fields under Applicable Menu to choose a menu for that week.
  7. Clicking Set automatic sequences will automatically assign the menus to alternate weeks.
  8. Click Update when you’re done.

Cloning a food menu

If you have a food menu that you'd like a copy of, you have the option to clone it. This will create a new menu group, for a different date range, with the same details as the original, with the option to edit the details afterwards.
  1. Hover over your profile picture in the top right.
  2. Click on System Settings.
  3. Click on Food Menus.
  4. Click on Clone Menu Group next to any existing menu group.
  5. This will create a copy of the menu group, with the same weekly menu and the same name with "copy" added on the end. Both can be edited.
  6. Because the time frame of menus cannot overlap, you will need to set a new date range for the cloned menu group. You can do this using the From Date and To Date fields.
  7. Set the menu sequence or apply the automatic sequence as usual.
  8. Click Save.
  9. You can edit any of the menus in the cloned menu group by clicking on them.
