How will payments change when my nursery switches to eypay?
If your early years provider has informed you that they're switching to eypay, you may wonder what that means. Put simply, eypay is a payment platform that changes the way nurseries can accept payments, while making them easier to manage. For parents, this just means that if you pay by card, you'll no longer be going through Opayo, Stripe, or Worldpay, and if you use direct debit, you will no longer be going through GoCardless. Instead, we've partnered with a single payment provider, Unipaas, to allow Card, Bank, and Direct Debit payments to our eypay nurseries. Tax-Free Childcare payments are also still available as normal.
What payment methods can I use?
Once your nursery transitions to using eypay, you will have up to four payment methods available to you through the eyparent app: Card, Pay by Bank, Direct Debit, or Tax-Free Childcare (TFC). Not all of these options might be available to you, as we give nurseries the option to disable some payment methods.
With eypay, we also give you the ability to use Google Pay and Apple Pay when choosing card payments, and the option to save card details to make future payments even faster.
How do I make payments with eypay?
The process of making a payment with eypay is very similar to what you will already be used to.
If you are using Card payments or Pay by Bank, you just need to click the Pay Now button the invoices screen and fill out the Amount and Deposit. When you proceed, you'll be taken to the Unipaas checkout screen where you can choose between card and bank payments. Follow the instructions to complete the payment.
For TFC payments, the process should be exactly as it was before. For Direct Debit customers, once your new mandate is active, your nursery will be able to collect payments as usual.
What do I do if I use Direct Debit?
If your nursery collected direct debit payments before transitioning to eypay, then they will be required to disconnect from our old direct debit provider, GoCardless, and connect to Unipaas. What this means for parents is that your old mandate will be deleted, and you will need to accept a new one. Your nursery should send out a new direct debit mandate to you once they move to eypay, which will appear in your email inbox. Fill out the form linked in the email, and your mandate should be processed in up to 3 working days.
