Using Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) on eyemployee

Time Off In Lieu, or TOIL for short, is a way that companies can compensate employees for working overtime by providing time off equivalent to the time spent working outside of contracted hours. If TOIL is enabled on your system, you're able to record overtime hours through your staff portal or the eyemployee app. If the overtime is approved, it will be converted into TOIL entitlement, which can be used to book absences.

Recording overtime through the staff web portal
  1. Log in to the staff portal and ensure you're on your profile.
  2. Click on Contract/Entitlements.
  3. Click on the Overtime Hours (TOIL) tab.
  4. Click Add Overtime Hours in the top right.
  5. Click on the Overtime Date field to bring up a calendar. Select the date the overtime was worked.
  6. In the Overtime Hours fields, select which times the overtime started and ended. You can either choose a time from the list, or type it in.
  7. Type additional information into the Notes/Description box.
  8. Click Submit.
  9. The overtime event will be sent to your manager for review. If it is approved, your overtime hours will be converted to TOIL entitlement.
Recording overtime through the eyemployee app

  3. Tap  to add overtime hours.
  4. Tap on the Overtime Date field to bring up a calendar. Select the date the overtime was taken.
  5. In the Start Time and End Time fields, select which times the overtime started and ended. You can either choose a time from the list, or type it in.
  6. Type additional information into the Notes/Description box.
  7. Tap Submit for Approval.
  8. The overtime event will be sent to your manager for review. If it is approved, your overtime hours will be converted to TOIL entitlement.
Booking absences with TOIL
You can see how much TOIL entitlement you have through the Contract/Entitlements screen on both the staff portal and the eyemployee app. Booking Time Off In Lieu is not that much different from booking any other absence. You just need to select TOIL (Time Off In Lieu) as your Type of Absence when booking a holiday, and the use of TOIL entitlement for this absence will be indicated in the Deduct from Entitlement? field.
